This trend has been gaining popularity in the previous months. It has been one hell of a ride and it found its place in our lives for sure.
What is vinyl?
Ever heard of vinyl records? Vinyl floors? Yep, exactly. Floors. This material is mostly used in construction, but somehow it came known to our eyes through fashion as well. It is not a natural substance but a synthetic man-made material. It is a type of plastic that is made from ethylene (found in crude oil) and chlorine (found in regular salt). When processed, both the substances are combined to form Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) resin, or as is commonly referred to - Vinyl. (more at http://www.whatisvinyl.com/)

Use in fashion?
Eventhough PVC itself is hard, with the addition of plasticizers it can be made pliable enough, for example, to coat fabrics in any thickness. That´s how it can be used in fashion as well. Around 1950s when, this fabric started intruding fashion world, and it became even more popularized in 1960s in couture collections of André Courréges, Pierre Cardin, and Paco Rabanne . This material gave futuristic look to their collections and made them look different. It represented designer´s vision about future and high-tech. At the same time it gave the architectural shape to the clothing instead of the usual "drape" design.
André Courréges , invented the popular vinyl-mini skirt. He used vinyl in its "Moon girl collection" where he created popular "Courréges boot" -the trend that was soon copied everywhere. Teenagers started wearing these boots on TV a back than they were called "Go-go shoes" after Go-go dancers who were wearing them a lot. At the same time Mary Quant popularized this material in boots, raincoats and skirts in England.

Since the fabric itself doesn´t "breathe" it has its advantages and disadvantages. That is way it had it´s routes in and out of fashion for years. My mum used to say "I wouldn´t wear it for anything because you need the damn vaseline to get in that damn thing haha." It´s not true (partly) because it is hard to get them on (but at least you´ll have fun).
So why do we wear it?
How can plastic be something you’d want to wear? And how can it be comfortable? Well, if you find the right kind for yourself you´ll be fine.
How to style it?
Vinyl is a tricky fabric to wear—it’s a fine line between chic and tacky, and it can be really hard to pair them up with the rest of your clothes. When you have a piece like this one that automatically stops the show, the other pieces should be simple and minimal. In my case I paired it up with simple black sweather and black boots.
Option nr.2
Pair it up with Hoodie + chunky sneakers (or any other sneakers)
Option nr.3
Wanna style up for work? Turtle-neck sweather and pumps and you´re good to go. Just keep in mind they keep moisture inside and make sounds when you walk, so they might not be suitable for an office work.
Vinyl is not something that is easily adapted. Ironically, once you get used to it, it is not something you will get rid of. (Trust me.)
OMG, where did you buy your pants?
Personally, I don´t like this feeling of real vinyl pants so I went for "legging" option and found one pair for myself in Calzedonia store. They are peeeerfect! Super easy to wear and no "tight" feeling". You can find them here :
