You can read their whole biographies here on their site (About Susumu Ai) but what I think is this: the people behind the titles given through work are far more important and here is what I have learned about them:

Since I had the opportunity to meet them personally, I think I also have a say here. Two wonderful, positive souls wandering through the human world. Two of the nicest people I have met in the fashion industry. The good side of my work is that not only the business relationships are created. There are many lovely friendships behind the curtains that are far more important. The kindness and friendly approach that Alisa and Keiho carry on within themselves has made me seen the beauty of the work that I do. These personalities are reflected in the creations of Susumu Ai. I am sure you will realize that on your own as well.

The philosophy

SUSUMU AI was established to show the right combination of traditional clothing from Western and Japanese cultures and incorporate both to bring out a new, charismatic and elegant fashion-sense for the world today. This is reflected in the design aesthetics: Traditional Japanese fabrics and patterns, hardly used in today's fashion, meet the European Zeitgeist. 

The company logo is the family crest of Alisa´s and Keiho´s grandfather's family - three umbrellas entangling each other.

The process

Fashion label SUSUMU AI is an interpretation of an Euro - Japanese fashion framework. In their own way, using Japanese high quality fabrics and prints with their very structural patterns but using eastern sewing techniques, as well as being fascinated by the esthetics of Japanese traditional clothing, they have  created a modern fashion label for women and men who want to look elegant but fashionable. Each any every piece is made with love, with great attention to detail, for your comfort and style :)

The pieces

Since we´re currently presenting and selling the collection of SS 2019 at Kastner and Oehler, I am going to show you what you can expect to see when you arrive.

Akira wrapped blouse

Ladies blouse made of high-quality Japanese kimono Chirimen. It has the Crepe structure and what I like the most- you don´t have to iron it.

When I met Alisa she wore the Akira blouse with the Kenta Culotte jeans and she inspired me to try it out. Here is how it looked like. Perfect match, huh?

Jumpsuit

My favorite piece of the collection. I feel in love with this beauty. The way it was created is simply something every women would wish for. It shows exactly what you want it to show by creating wonderful figure :)

Akaya Haori Blouse

It is also made of high quality material with interesting pattern and noble shimmer . You can wear it as blouse or jacket in summer.

I have combined Ren Skirt with it and it worked out perfectly. It is made out of the same material with over knee length and slit at the front and back . What I like it about it is that it has pockets, which makes it casual and elegant at the same time.

Akaya dress

If you can´t decide whether you want to wear a dress or a blouse-here is the solution. Wear Akaya dress because it´s exactly that. A dress in blouse style. You can also combine it with one of the blazers and you are good to go.

THIS READ BLAZER is probably everything you are looking for. Now when I think about it, I am not sure if this is my favorite piece, or the red jumpsuit. Probaaably, this one :P So, do you feel like you wanna suit up for work, but also go out for drinks afterwards? No problem, I got it solved for you. Wear this beauty with the Akira blouse (which can be buttoned down at the back) and you´re good to go.
