First of all.. I love my animals. I love all animals and I wouldn´t wear their skin ever. I go rather with eco leather or materials that can give you the same function without doing harm to animals. So, before you start judging we´re not talking about real fur.
FAUX? HUH..?
There is no science here. It´s just french word for fake. Faux fur is a term used to describe textile fabric made in a way that it simulates genuine animal fur. So, instead of using word fake, designers went with "faux", to make it sound more "fashionable". This type of material was first used in 1929. Of course, it looked nothing like the one we wear today. Back in the 1930´s it was easy to distinguish fake from the real fur. Advanced technology made it almost impossible today.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?
Throughout the history fur is one of the oldest known forms of clothing, and has been worn by men and women for a variety of reasons. It was also used to express the financial status, as it was quite desirable, yet not so easy to get. That´s why fake fur was invented.
First type of fake fur was available in only two colors: gray and tan. From a fashion standpoint it also had extremely low quality. This was due to usage of alpaca´s hair. Later in 1950´s acrylic polymers were introduced to the market as replacements for alpaca hair. They continued using them because they were easier to dye, unlike alpaca´s hair. That´s why today-we have whole color palette to choose from.
WHY THE HELL SHOULD I WEAR IT?
Unlike real fur, fake fur has a lot of advantages:
-It´s warm- yep. Believe it or not it actually is. The one coat I have (check out below) is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. It keeps me warm and cosy throughout the winter.
-They are durable and resistant to changes in environment- Unlike real fur, fake fur requires minimum amount of time to take care of it. Some of the pieces are even labeled as washable, which in the case of real fur is impossible.
-Cheaper- I´ve heard it thousand times- pay more to get the real thing and it will last longer. In this case: No, thank you. Since the trends change often, it doesn´t pay off to buy real one, or to let 5 animals die, so you can have 5 different ones. :D
-They make you feel gangstaaa- Just kidding :D There is something that comes with this kind of coat. It gives you certain amount of confidence and boosts up your energy.
-Style update- as said- trends come and go, so this one will keep you stylish for at least one season :P
BUT..
If you´re still not sure- don´t. I´ve recently read an article about animal cruelty which made me think whether I should make this post or not. It says that wearing any kind of fur- even fake one means you´re supporting fur in the fashion industry. Still, I really like this coat and find it extremely fashionable, so don´t take this suggestion as something you must own. That´s why the post holds the could instead of the usual must :) I´ll let you decide on your own. Til´ than.. Few photos of the one I own.
